- Receive a generic TAE that has no relevance to your industry sector.
- Be part of a mass online TAE course
- Receive a material and assessment dump of information and be expected to succeed.
Unlike cheaper, shorter TAE courses, we have a high completion rate with our students making use of their TAE qualification by moving straight into employment.
The VET (Vocational Education and Training) sector are currently concerned about people enrolling into a cheaper shorter online course. Traditionally, this has seen students gain the qualification with an insufficient knowledge base who present poorly in interviews.
This course reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational, education and training (VET) sector. This qualification, or the skills derived from the units of competency within it, are also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in the workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program. The job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the workplace or VET sector. Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:
- Enterprise / workplace trainer
- Enterprise / workplace assessor
- Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trainer
- RTO assessor
- Training advisor and training needs analyst
- Vocational education teacher
- Industry specific trainer (i.e.. Defensive driver trainer, pre-driver education trainer etc…)

Course and Employment Pathways
The current determination for trainers and assessors state that:
- Trainers must hold the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the TAE Training and Education Training Package as a minimum qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalence of competencies; and
- be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and
- be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaiing their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
For those wishing to continue with study after achieving the TAE40110 qualification, applicants may undertake the Diploma of Training and Assessment or may choose to undertake the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice. There is no direct link between this qualification and licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements however when required you may need to hold additional licenses or qualifications in order to be able to teach in a particular industry.
This course is offered as a blended delivery course. This option combines both self-paced learning together with face to face classes.
Our blended delivery course includes a 14 week face to face delivery component with sessions conducted every Wednesday night, 6.00pm to 9.00pm and Saturday morning 8.30am to 12.30pm. Outside of scheduled class time applicants will have a personal study requirement that must be completed within a 3 month period. What is blended delivery?
Blended delivery is a flexible, technology-based approach to teaching and learning that uses a combination on online and face to face classes.
What are the benefits of blended delivery?
There are a number of benefits to the blended delivery approach to education and training both in the workplace and for individuals.
Blended delivery improves access to training for individuals by giving them the flexibility and freedom to learn anytime, anywhere. Blended delivery also provides students with control over the pace of their learning so that difficult concepts can be reviewed as often as required.
The benefits for employers are also many. Employers are able to save time, money and more importantly human resources allow them to up skill their staff without huge amounts of down time in productivity.
Who should use a blended delivery approach?
Those who will benefit the most from a blended delivery approach are:
- Employers that want to ensure they are meeting their obligations under the new workplace health and safety regulations;
- Any individual that requires “gap training” following changes to industry standards that might mean they would no longer be deemed competent;
- Any individual that wants to up-skill or demonstrate their skill level and competency to a prospective employer.
- Any individual that wants to change careers but can not afford to take time from paid employment
When can I enrol into a blended delivery course?

How does blended delivery work for the Training and Assessment (TAE) Course?
Upon enrolment you will also be issued with a personalised training plan. Your training plan will guide you through the course and inform you of the sequence you should be learning the course subjects in. Once enrolled you will be provided with access to our Student Portal which contains our learning materials. You will find things like our presentations, videos, forums and webinar sessions.
As you progress through the course our trainers will maintain constant contact with you in order to ensure you remain on track and on the move.
Certain subjects in this qualification require practical training and assessment such as the “Plan, organise and facilitate group-based learning” subject. Our practical training and assessment is conducted at our Preston training facilities although we have been known to delivery our practical sessions all across the State of Victoria.
How is blended delivery supported?
Enrolled students will have the option of participating in scheduled webinar sessions which allow you to communicate and participate with our trainers and other students enrolled into this qualification from the comfort of your own home. The attendance of each webinar session is not compulsory however it is a great option to remain on track and progress through the course. Our staff will make weekly contact with you through your course to ensure that you are supported and able to move forward at a pace that suits you.
For the students that like that personal touch, our training office in Preston is available to our blended delivery students every Tuesday and Friday by appointment. This provides our students with the face to face support and training that they would traditionally enjoy from a part time or full time course.
What is the quickest amount of time I can complete this qualification in?
Due to the nature of this course and the amount of information we provide you to successful start your new career, most students will need a minimum of 12 weeks to complete this course. As with any blended delivery course the amount of time required to complete a qualification depends directly on the amount of time you dedicate to your study.
What is the maximum amount of time I can take to complete this qualification?
Your enrolment into this course is for a maximum period of 6 months (12 weeks face to face training with an additional 3 months of personal study if required). Extensions may be granted however must be made in writing and approved by Intelligent Training Solutions. Additional fees may apply for extensions to enrolment. This course is delivered from our Preston training room located at 77 St Georges Road, Preston, Victoria 3072. This course can also be delivered at a large number of different venues around Victoria. Course Eligibility Criteria
Where appropriate, (for example an applicant who is a recent arrival in Australia and has completed their schooling in a language other than English) literacy and numeracy will be screened prior to being accepted into the course. Where it is determined that an applicant may not have sufficient English language skills to complete this qualification and work successfully in a tailored job role they will be provided with three referrals for additional support. Course Entry Recommendations
TAE40110 applicants should possess vocational competence in a specific industry, subject or technical area and need to develop or extend competence in training and assessment to teach, train or facilitate the learning or other individuals in their area of vocational expertise. In some instances the applicants who are in the process of acquiring vocational competence concurrently with their TAE40110 Qualification may be accepted into this course.
Each unit of competence will be assessed. All assessments will be based on the principles of CBT (Competency-Based Training). A successful outcome for this Certificate will be determined by a range of different methods including:
- Online quiz / assessment or student workbook
- Written assessments
- Observation of simulated and practical activities
- Structured questioning and discussion
- Written or verbal questioning at the completion of each session.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
ITS will consider and welcome any Credit or Exemptions for previous studies or industry experience you have obtained. This will be done via a formal RPL process prior to your enrolment. Applicants are welcome to visit our Student Portal and complete the TAE Skills Recognition kit FREE of charge. Our staff will assess your eligibility for RPL for FREE. Fees will apply should you wish to enrol into the TAE course through the RPL application process. Further information is available by contacting our office.

The following is a list of the recommended minimum requirements each applicant should have during the course:
- Working pens and highlighters
- A4 lined workbooks for taking notes (minimum 150 pages)
- 1 x 2D ring folder, 1 x presentation folder (minimum 80 pages), 10 x plastic folder inserts (sheet protectors)
- An active and working email account
- Laptop computer (not required but useful) with the following programs installed
- Microsoft Word 2007 or higher (or equivalent)
- Internet Explorer 9.0 or higher (or equivalent)
- Adobe PDF Reader (Free to Download)
- Access to the Internet (Free internet access is available at the enrolling RTO)
- USB memory stick (minimum 4Gig). Please note that CD’s and DVD’s will not work on the RTO computers.
- Video recording device (Video Camera, Mobile Phone etc…)
Outside of scheduled class times you will be required to access the internet, your emails and Skype. It is recommended that you have access to a working computer at home that allows a connection to the internet.
