KEY INFORMATION

This course is part of the Transport and Logistics Training Package. The TLI41221 qualification is required by anybody wishing to apply for an MDI (Motor Vehicle Instructors) licence with the DTI. This course has been developed to provide you with the information, training and skills you will require to become a professional motor driving instructor, turning you into a valuable asset to any driving school or driver training business.*

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Intelligent Training Solutions will train you to the requirements of the TLI41221 qualification. The TLI41221 qualification is the ONLY nationally recognised compulsory benchmark throughout Australia.

In addition to this qualification, South Australian applicants are required to meet the SA DIT regulatory requirements. To do this, you will be required to, as specified on the SA DIT website, complete the requirements stated on SA.GOV.AU. Please click the link below to view the SA DIT requirements.

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE SA.GOV.AU DIT WEBSITE: SA.GOV.AU

During your training, Intelligent Training Solutions will deliver the TLI41221 qualification, including the SA DIT assessment information. It is important to note that the SA DIT regulator assessment is in addition, and a separate assessment to, the TLI41221 qualification and therefore contains criteria not relevant or included in the TLI41221 qualification. Our focus is on the nationally recognised qualification criteria with integration and focus on the DIT regulator assessment.

Registered training organisations delivering this qualification have no control over the SA DIT assessors, assessment outcomes or assessment processes. In addition to successfully completing this qualification, Intelligent Training Solutions may recommend completing additional driving hours specifically targeted at the SA DIT regulator assessment with your local CBT&A / VORT instructor. If you do not have a local CBT&A / VORT instructor, our trainers can assist you with finding one or you can search the DIT website to find an approved CBT&A / VORT instructor.

It is also valuable to note that the driver trainers working on this course with you are all DIT registered and CBT&A and VORT approved.

ENROLMENT OPTIONS - DELIVERY FORMATS

BLENDED DELIVERY COURSE

Our blended delivery courses are an extremely popular option that provides you with the time and flexibility to complete this course. Unlike an online course where you are left to your own devices to work through the materials and assessments, an Intelligent Training Solutions blended delivery course combines structured self-paced learning with video classes, webinars, a dedicated student support team and, if required, the option of joining face-to-face classes as much or as little as you require.

Our blended courses allow students to complete the theory components of any subject in the comfort of your own home, office or workplace by providing you with interactive presentations, relevant videos and course materials through the convenience of a well-thought-out and resourced student portal.

You will be invited, not required, to participate in our scheduled webinars. Can’t make one of our live webinars? Don’t worry….. we have you covered as all our webinars are recorded and uploaded to your student portal within 72 hours of delivery, waiting for you to watch them any time, day or night. We also have pre-recorded videos that provide you with clear instructions and information on the requirements of each of your student assessments.

Like with any course, the practical elements of this course still require face-to-face delivery. We are sure that you would agree with us when we say that no practical component of a course, especially when those skills form the basis of your money-making abilities, should ever be taught to a student via remote delivery, webinar or pre-recorded video with the expectation of a student successfully grasping the concepts and outcomes required by their subject.

With that said, like our other delivery options, our blended course will have scheduled face-to-face sessions negotiated between you and your trainer for you to attend. These sessions are also a great way to learn, study, and mingle with our trainers and assessors. This flexibility provided to you in our blended courses will assist you in balancing your work/life commitments while gaining the skills and knowledge from this course.

For more information on how our blended delivery course works, please click on the following link: Blended Delivery Explained.

COURSE DURATION

Intelligent Training Solutions delivers the TLI41221 Certificate IV in Transport & Logistics (Road Transport – Car Driving Instruction) course in three different delivery formats; however, in South Australia, our most popular format happens to be our Blended Delivery Format.

  • Our blended delivery course has been designed for flexible delivery. Practical face-to-face sessions are conducted Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm on a pre-arranged schedule negotiated between yourself and our trainers. The theory components of this course are delivered via scheduled webinars, recorded webinars, recorded video content and interactive presentations. Students enrolling in a blended delivery course can expect to take between 2 to a maximum of 6 months to complete their course.

The actual time required to complete this qualification will depend on your availablility for practical driving sessions and your study commitment (the time you can dedicate) to the course.

Please contact us for information on any other delivery format (full-time or part-time).

COURSE, EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL PATHWAYS

EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS

Once you have successfully completed this qualification, you will have gained the skills and knowledge required by a driver trainer (driving instructor) to train a novice learner driver with no prior driving experience to a level whereby they can safely and competently drive on Australian roads. You will also have gained an insight into the licence testing procedures and assessment methods used by DIT CBT&A and VORT instructors to prepare a learner driver for their drive assessment. By completing this course, you will have successfully completed the first stage of your pathway to becoming a DIT registered MDI Driving Instructor.

Stage 2, the final step in becoming a qualified driving instructor, is in addition to the TLI41221 qualification and your studies with Intelligent Training Solutions. The stage 2 process is conducted by DIT. To complete this final step and apply for an MDI (Motor Driving Instructor’s Licence) with DIT and become a qualified registered driving instructor, you will, in addition to this qualification, need to meet the DIT regulatory requirements. This may involve completing additional driving hours specifically targeted at the DIT regulator assessment with a registered CBT&A/VORT instructor. Throughout your time with us, we will provide you with information on how to go about finding a CBT&A / VORT instructor to assist you with this final stage.

EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS

Once you have successfully completed this qualification, it is recommended that those wanting to become a CBT&A or VORT instructor complete the TLISS00162 Driving Instructor Skill Set. This Skill Set provides you with the skills and knowledge required to undertake a driver’s licence assessment. Refer to our TLISS00162 web page for more information.*

For those students wishing to use this qualification and the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course in a higher education setting, you may also be interested in the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment course.

*Please Note: The TLISS00162 Driving Instructor Skill Set Course is only required for those who want to become a CBT&A/VORT assessor and do not hold a current TAE qualification. There is a considerable waiting period for Adelaide-based trainers to become approved examiners.  Therefore, it may not be worth enrolling into the Skill Set if you are an Adelaide-based trainer. We recommend speaking with your in-car trainer during your course for more information or contacting our national training manager with any questions or concerns.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Here are a few of our most frequently asked questions on this course; please click on any questions below to expand the content.

CAN I TEACH PEOPLE FOR MONEY ONCE I AM QUALIFIED

The short answer to this question is SOON.

Unlike any other state in Australia, there are a few extra steps South Australian instructors need to complete. Once you have completed this qualification, you will need to apply to DIT for your licence. This process involves completing a DIT regulator assessment (driving assessment) and Australian Road Rules assessment for MDI’s. Refer to the ‘SPECIFIC COURSE INFORMATION’ section of this webpage. Anybody wishing to teach a learner driver for money or reward must be qualified and licensed with the DIT before starting to teach a student.
