HLTAID003 Provide First Aid – Level II First Aid Course
ONE DAY EXPRESS COURSES ● TWO DAY CORPORATE COURSES ● GROUP BOOKINGS WITH FLEXIBLE DELIVERY
Knowing what to do in the first few minutes following an accident can be the difference between life and death. This nationally accredited certificate provides you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide initial emergency care in accordance with approved first aid principles. Our course incorporates a number of realistic simulations aimed to prepare you to deal with first aid situations in a practical way.
This course will also allow you to provide basic first aid response in emergency life support until emergency assistance arrives.
The HLTAID003 course is considered the industry standard in first aid training and is suitable for anybody requiring a Level II First Aid Certificate for the workplace, home, sport and recreational use and is acknowledged Australia-wide.

The following Nationally Accredited Unit of Competence is included in this Certificate:
HLTAID011
HLTAID009
HLTAID010
HLTAID011 - PROVIDE FIRST AID
STUDENT INVESTMENT: 6.5 - 7.5-hours with a personal study component* - this training includes the skills and knowledge from the HLTAID009 Provide CPR unit.
This unit provides you with the skills and knowledge required to respond to an emergency situation at home, work or while out and about. This unit is generally required by any person needing to hold a first aid certification for work or community group purposes and covers a wide range of comprehensive topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. Unlike many other first aid courses, we don't just cover the most common types of first aid injuries and illnesses, our qualified trainers will also deep dive into specific first aid scenarios that spring from classroom and participant discussions.
Best of all, our approach to your training ensures that you will learn techniques and methods that can be used in real-world situations and not just in a simulated first aid scenario.
KEY INFORMATION
In accordance with the ARC guidelines and Safe Work Australia, you will need to undertake annual refresher training on the HLTAID001 unit (CPR component) of your first aid certification.
The actual face to face delivery time will vary depending on class discussions and course participant numbers. We expect that your class will only take 6.5 hours (face to face) to complete, however, we ask that all our students allow the maximum of 7.5-hours in your schedule, just in case. 🙂

BLENDED DELIVERY COURSE
Our blended delivery format is by far our most popular option for both our public and corporate first aid courses. Blended delivery courses involve a self-paced study component that can be completed either online or via a traditional workbook* and a classroom (face to face) session.
EXPECTED DURATION: PERSONAL STUDY: 1 TO 8 HOURS*|IN-CLASS SESSION: 6.5 TO 7.5 HOURS*
* The time required to complete the personal study component will vary between students and depends on a student prior experience and knowledge with first aid. If you have never undertaken a first aid course before, you can expect to need the 8 hours, however, if you have previous knowledge and experience, you may be able to complete the personal study component in as little a 1 hour.
* The actual classroom delivery time will vary depending on course numbers and participant discussions. We expect that your classroom session will only take 6.5 hours to complete, however, we ask that each student allow the maximum of 7.5-hours in their schedules, just in case.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY DOES THIS COURSE HAVE A SELF-PACED STUDY COMPONENT?
Most people who are looking for a first-aid certificate are unaware that this nationally accredited course which has been written by the Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council for the Department of Education and Training has in fact been written as an 18-hour course! Source: Click Here
NO training provider in Australia should delivery this course in one day without a personal study component. Think about it, how do you fit 18 hours of information into 6.5 hours?
For this reason that we have developed an interactive, informative and enjoyable online personal study component split into 9 topics that allows you to complete all the non-practical, yet important components of your first aid course in your own time at home or at work. Our online component contains video, animated video and presentations that guide you through each topic. Once you have completed the learning materials for each topic you will then be asked to complete a small quiz to confirm what you have just learnt.NOTE: Each of the nine topics has a quiz. The number of questions in a quiz varies between 6 to 16 questions depending on the topic.
WHAT IF I AM NOT CONFIDENT ON A COMPUTER?

For those who are not confident on a computer or do not wish to complete the personal study component online, Intelligent Training Solutions has a more traditional approach available to you. Every enrolled student will be given a PDF download of the first aid course student learner guide and student assessment for free. To complete the personal study component, simply print the student assessment and write down your answers. Once you have answered all the questions, you can submit your assessment to your trainer on the day of your practical session or mail your completed assessment to the mailing address we will provide you in your welcome letter.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER, PRINTER OR INTERNET?
Never fear, if you don't have access to a computer, printer or the internet we have you covered. For the small amount of $26.95, Intelligent Training Solutions can send you a printed first aid learner guide with student assessment that you can complete. Best of all, you get to keep the learner guide, we just need the completed student assessment.
WHAT IS INVOLVED WITH THE FACE TO FACE TRAINING SESSION?
The face to face or classroom training sessions are delivered at our various training locations as listed throughout this webpage and can also be delivered to your workplace or community group onsite at your location.
The face to face training session is fun, interactive, hands-on sessions which covers all the practical and life-saving elements of the first aid course. Information is presented to you in a conversational delivery approach, with lots of real-world scenarios, enhanced video, modern presentations and, most importantly, with a direct focus on practical, easy to implement approaches and techniques to first aid.
TWO DAY COURSES
A two-day first aid course represents a traditional approach to first aid training whereby all the training, learning and assessment is conducted face to face in a classroom environment. Our two-day format is well suited to group and corporate courses where fine detail and the ability to ask specific industry-related first aid questions are of high importance. A two-day course is recommended for those participants who have never completed a first aid course before such as secondary school students, or those workplaces who are considered to be working in a high-risk industry or environment.
EXPECTED DURATION: IN-CLASS SESSION: 12 TO 14 HOURS* - NO PERSONAL STUDY REQUIRED.
* The actual classroom delivery time will vary depending on course numbers and participant discussions. We expect that your classroom session will only take 12 hours to complete, 6 hours each day, however, we ask that each student allow the maximum of 14-hours in their schedules, just in case.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF ARRANGING A TWO DAY COURSE?
There are many advantages for those participating in a two-day first aid course, far too many to mention all here, instead, we will provide you with the two most commonly seen advantages for your workplace, school or community group.
Most people who are looking for a first-aid certificate are unaware that this nationally accredited course which has been written by the Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council for the Department of Education and Training has in fact been written as an 18-hour course! Source: Click HereThe lure of a 1-day course may seem convenient and time-saving to many workplaces, schools or HSE managers, and in many situations, managed properly, a 1-day blended course certainly has an advantage over your time and budget, however, what many workplaces or HSE managers are unaware off is that even a 1-day course has a personal study component which needs to be completed before a certification can be issued to a participant. It is important to know that personal study components purely exist to replace the traditional 'second' day of face to face training. The problem is that managed incorrectly, many workplaces and schools find themselves having paid for staff, students or individuals to complete their first aid training only to find out that the minority or majority of there group won't be issued with a first aid certification simply due to the fact that they haven't completed their personal study component. In most cases, a workplace or manager only identifies this problem during a WorkSafe audit, when applying for a workplace tender or when a teacher prepares their student's final report cards.
If you are intending to select a blended delivery course or need to flexibility and financial benefit of a blended delivery course, never fear, the Intelligent Training Solutions team will aim to keep you on track with weekly or fortnight reports and updates on your team's progress, however, we cannot control your staff or student movements or their availability to complete their required personal study component. The same goes for your workplace's workload or schedule. If in doubt, we recommend considering a two-day first aid course, that way, providing you team show up, you can guarantee that your staff or students will be provided with all the information required and be given the space and time on their course to complete all their required theory and practical components while under the supervision of our qualified trainers.
REMEMBER: NO training provider in Australia should delivery this course in one day without a personal study component. Think about it, how do you fit 18 hours of information into 6.5 hours?
The second most common benefit is one experienced rather than seen. Two-day courses are great for those participants who have never completed a first aid course before such as students within a secondary school or for those workplaces who operate in what is considered a high-risk industry or environment. As previously mentioned, two-day courses allow our trainers to expand on information and practical demonstrations. These courses allow trainers to actively promote classroom discussion, drawing out questions that would normally be left un-asked in a 1-day course, which in turn allows our trainers to provide participants with specific first aid response or practices to their general needs to industry requirements.Two-day courses also allow our trainers the flexibility to work with a group, customising the information or delivery approach to suit individual or group needs. This allows us to focus or repeat sections of information over the two day period that the group or your workplace find important.
CAN AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ENROL INTO A TWO-DAY COURSE?
In short, the answer is yes, however, the problem most members of the public face is the availability of a public two-day course. The 1-day blended delivery course is by far the most popular type of public course. We here at Intelligent Training Solutions are more than happy to arrange a two-day course for any group, public or private, providing that the minimum number of 4 students is achieved.
If you do not have 4 people to form your own group but would still like to attend a two-day course, please give our office a call so that we can add your name to a waiting list.

They contain a lot of valuable video content to ensure participants remain engaged rather than listening to war stores of a trainers past experiences. Unlike many other first aid providers all our trainers are qualified as division 1 nurses or emergency service workers and paramedics. Our standards are high to ensure that the information you receive during this course is current and practical and not just taught by a first aider. We believe in providing you with highly qualified trainers that have real industry experience that is current.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
The RACGP (The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners) standards recommend undertaking a refresher in CPR competence every 3 years however the ARC (The Australian Resuscitation Council) guidelines recommend that updates should be completed at least annually (www.resus.org.au). In support of the RACGP Standards and the latest evidence, it is a requirement of the QI&CPD Program that GPs maintain basic life support skills through the completion of a CPR course that meets the ARC guidelines.
The CPR component of this course has been approved by the RACGP and QI&CPD Program. GPs simply submit a copy of their CPR Statement of Attainment issued by ITS Pty Ltd to the relevant State QI&CPD unit for CPD point allocation.
All nurses and midwives must meet the continuing professional development (CPD) standards. Nurses on the nurses’ register will need to participate in at least 20 hours of continuing nursing professional development per year. Registered nurses and midwives who hold scheduled medicines endorsements or endorsements as nurse or midwife practitioners under the National Law must complete at least 10 hours per year in education.
