PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE WORKING AT HEIGHTS COURSE

It is recommended that you provide the following:

1. Working pen and highlighters for use on the course.
2. An active and working email account.
3. Photo ID to confirm your identity is required on your training day. 
4. Appropriate clothing and footwear. Closed-toe shoes or work boots are a must

WORKING AT HEIGHTS COURSE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

This unit of competence does not have any required eligibility criteria as stated by the RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights Unit of Competence. This unit does not mandate entry requirements; however, industry consultation and the RII companion volumes for this unit recommend that participants’ LLN ACSF performance indicators should be at a level 2 for this course. If you are unsure about your LLN level, please contact our office, and we will be more than happy to assist you. 

Participants must be at least 15 years of age.

Working at heights involves physical activity, including climbing, kneeling, reaching, and bending. Intelligent Training Solutions does not accept any responsibility for any harm suffered by you as a result of your participation in the course. If you have any special needs (including those in relation to Language, Literacy or Numeracy), a relevant disability or condition, or any other concerns, you should raise these before you enrol so that we can work with you to find the best training option. 

Intelligent Training Solutions delivers a working at heights course that is engaging, insightful, and practical.

This nationally accredited course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of working at heights. 

At Intelligent Training Solutions, our Work Safely at Heights course is designed to equip your team with the practical skills and safety knowledge needed to operate confidently and legally when working at height. This course supports compliance with current OHS legislation and is ideal for workers who conduct or supervise tasks where a fall from one level to another is a risk. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Throughout the course, participants will develop Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and conduct risk assessments specific to working at height. Our focus is on fall prevention, ensuring that your team is prepared to work safely in a wide range of industries, including construction, maintenance, mining, manufacturing, and more.

We understand that no two workplaces are the same. That’s why we tailor our training to reflect your specific operational needs. Whether delivered onsite at your workplace or at one of our purpose-built training facilities, our course content is adapted to suit the environment and equipment your team uses.

For supervisors of those working at heights or anybody needing to develop rescue plans, we recommended staying behind and having a chat with our trainers and assessors. Remember, having a documented and tested rescue plan is not just good practice, it’s a legal requirement.

• Risk Assessment and Hazard identification
• Fall prevention strategies
• Selection and correct use of height safety equipment
• Use of anchor systems, fall restraint, work positioning, and fall arrest systems
• Fall restraint systems, selection of equipment and correct use.
• Fall arrest systems
• Energy absorbing lanyards
• Correct use of ladders and ladder safety

Course Inclusions

• Training delivered by experienced Height Safety Specialists with extensive industry knowledge.
• One-day course designed for up to 12 participants per session, typically running from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and Australian Standards for working at height
• Tailored recommendations and expert advice on the selection and use of specialised PPE and height safety equipment for your specific workplace.
• Guidance on implementing effective risk control measures aligned with the types of height-related tasks your team undertakes.
• Strong focus on hands-on, practical training to build real-world skills and ensure your workers can operate safely and confidently at height.

The enrolment fee for this course is $249 per person.

Once you have completed your enrolment form and it has been successfully submitted and received by our office, the following process is applied:

STEP 1)

You will receive a confirmation text message (SMS) from our office informing you that we have received your enrolment form.
NOTE: This text message may take between 1 to 12 hours to arrive as this message is only sent once our team have your enrolment form in their hands.

STEP 2)

During this phase in our enrolment process, you will receive anywhere between two or three emails from our enrolment (administration) team. These emails may include:

• A welcome letter which contains information about your course, together with your trainer’s contact details, the location your training will take place, the time your training will commence and any other important information that is relevant to your course.
  
• A tax invoice and/or receipt; and finally
  
• An email containing information on your USI

NOTE: It may take anywhere between 1 – 24 hours for our emails to arrive in your inbox during this stage. Please remember to check the spam or junk folders.

STEP 3)

During the third and final step in our enrolment process, you receive a final text message (SMS) from our enrolment (administration) team. This text message will confirm that your enrolment has been processed by our team and will list any or all emails that we have sent you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE THE EMAILS MENTIONED IN YOUR FINAL TEXT MESSAGE, YOU MUST CONTACT OUR OFFICE.

Student support is a cornerstone of our organisation. Whether you are a full-time, part-time or blended delivery student, you will always have access to your course trainers or student support officers. How you engage in our services (daily, once a week or in blocks) is up to you.

Once you have successfully completed the requirements of this course, you will receive the following items as part of your certification:

1. A personalised VOC (Verification of Competence) wallet-sized card. 
2. A PDF Certificate of Completion – Statement of Attainment sent directly to your email.

We will also add you to our register to receive FREE reminders that your certification may be due for refresher training. This is a free service offered by Intelligent Training Solutions to assist you in staying up-to-date and current with your certification.

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at our purpose built training facility.

Therefore, this course is delivered 100% face-to-face. 

In accordance with the course nationally accredited criteria, students will be assessed both theoretically and practically. The assessment will be based on competency-based training (CBT) principles and will include:

• Written (or verbal*) assessment (Short answers and multiple choice)
• Observation of simulated and practical activities.

*Verbal answers can be used to replace written answers for those students who cannot complete a written assessment. This will be determined case-by-case.

EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS

Participants who obtain their working at heights accreditation will be able to safely work at any height greater than 1.5 meters to conduct work-related activities.

EDUCATIONAL PATHWAYS

Participants wishing to continue with their study after achieving the RIIWHS204E certification can do so by undertaking any one of the following courses:

• White Card Course
• Issuing a work permit course

Intelligent Training Solutions does not recommend Recognition of prior learning (RPL) for this course. Due to the duration and cost of this short course, RPL assessment would have limited value to participants.

INDUSTRY & EMPLOYER EXPECTATIONS 

Many industries, employers, and site safety protocols require refresher training every 2 years to ensure:

➡️ Skills and knowledge remain current.

➡️ Workers stay up to date with changes to OHS legislation or Australian Standards.

➡️ Site and insurance requirements are met.

➡️ Safety culture is reinforced through regular competency reviews.

For those who work day-in and day-out in an industry that has you, or your team working with heights, recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be offered by way of assessment only. Participants will need to undertake the theory and practical assessment tasks to be deemed competent in this course.

Students who are deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Intelligent Training Solutions (RTO 22570).

To summarise our cancellation and refund terms and conditions, in short, We are unable to refund monies for students who do not turn up for class. Course fees will not be refunded if received within eight days of your course commencement. 

PLEASE decide carefully when enrolling in a course with less than eight days between your enrolment and the commencement of the course. Intelligent Training Solutions does not have a cooling-off period for this course. Once your enrolment is processed, all payments made are non-refundable.
