This course is suitable for workers who conduct or supervise tasks whilst at height. 

This working at heights course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to conduct a risk assessment of the working environment and will ensure that you have the practical experience and knowledge required to safely conduct work-related activities from heights with a focus on fall prevention rather than fall arrest.

With our working at heights training tailored to suit a variety of working environments, this course promises to be both engaging, and informative. Our training is conducted by experienced emergency services and industry personnel who are familiar with a variety of industries and their requirements regarding safety at heights.

Working at heights training can be conducted at your worksite or off-site of our East Keilor training centre. With courses conducted on a weekly, we are confident we can find a suitable course for you or your team.

Even though working at heights training is a serious topic, we pride ourselves on our fun, practical and engaging format that simulates real worlds scenarios. Our courses contain a lot of valuable video content to ensure participants remain engaged rather than listening to war stories of trainers past experiences. Unlike many other providers, all our trainers are highly qualified with our senior trainers and our program coordinator qualified in emergency heights space rescue. Our standards are high to ensure that the information you receive during this course is current and practical and not just taught by a ‘trainer’. As this one day course, it is not expected that you will need ongoing support, however, regardless if you are a full time, part-time or blended delivery student, you will always have access to your course trainers or support officers. ASSESSMENT METHODS

INDUSTRY AND REGULATOR APPROVED REASONABLE ADJUSTMENTS

It is a requirement of this course, as stated by the RIIWHS204E unit criteria, that the demonstration practical elements related to heights must be demonstrated and performed by participants.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the following reasonable adjustment has been approved for use by our state and industry regulators. COVID-19 reasonable adjustments include:

  • A no-contact approach to delivery and assessment with students and staff

On top of the reasonable adjustments issued by our regulators, Intelligent Training Solutions has also implemented the following COVID-19 safety measures as part of our delivery and assessment:

  • Restricted all public class sizes to accommodate the 4m2 between students and staff
  • Equipped our trainers with commercial-grade disinfectant to use on all classroom surfaces and contact touchpoints such as light switches, door handles, benchtops, classroom tables and chairs etc…
  • We have implemented new equipment disinfecting procedures which include sanitising and disinfecting all equipment before and after classes regardless if the equipment has been used. 
  • We have hand sanitiser available for use to all our staff and students. Hand sanitiser is available in all public spaces and in our classrooms.

This course and the unit of competency that make up your Statement of Attainment must be assessed both theoretically and practically in accordance with the confined spaces unit criteria. The assessment will be based on the principles of competency-based training (CBT). A successful outcome for this certificate will be determined by a range of different methods including:

  • Either (one or the other) an online or written submission of work appropriate to a basic level II language and literacy  
  • Observation of simulated and practical activities
  • Structured questioning or discussions.

 

COURSE ENTRY RECOMMENDATIONS 

It is recommended that you are either employed or seeking employment within a job role that requires you to be certified in working in or around confined spaces. Participants should have basic Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills and have the physical ability to enter and work within confined spaces. This unit does not mandate any entry requirements however industry consultation together with the RII companion volumes for this unit recommend that participants LLN ACSF performance indicators should be at a level 2 for this course. If you are unsure about your LLN level, please contact our office and we will be more than happy to assist you. 

 

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

Learners are able to have their competency from prior learning and work experiences recognised in this unit through the following requirements:

RPL will be offered to participants by way of an assessment only pathway as the requirements for this unit are subject to change in line with WHS/OHS heights code of practice or workplace requirements. Please note that the intention of this unit of competence is to gain or update the skills and knowledge required in working at heights. It has been determined through our industry consultation that RPL will only occur through a full assessment pathway.

The training offered will provide you with the skills and knowledge to safely working at heights. Intelligent Training Solutions accepts no responsibility for the subsequent actions of participants.

Heights training involves moderate physical activity including kneeling and bending. Intelligent Training Solutions does not accept any responsibility for any harm suffered by you as a result of your participation in the course. If you have any special needs (including those in relation to Language, Literacy or Numeracy) a relevant disability or condition, or any other concerns you should raise these prior to enrolment.

  • You have the right to complain about the performance of our administration services, trainers or assessors
