ABOUT OUR WORKPLACE DRIVER SAFETY COURSE

Keep Your Team Safe Behind the Wheel

Workplaces are increasingly in the spotlight, as the use of vehicles during work hours and for commuting has become a key focus for WHS/OHS regulators. Unfortunately, many training options on the market deliver little more than basic road safety reminders, offering the appearance of compliance without real impact. These programs may tick the right boxes on paper, but often fall short of delivering meaningful results or a strong return on investment for your organisation.

Whether members of your team travel between sites, head to meetings, or grab that morning coffee, employees who drive for work face daily road risks. Our Workplace Safe Driver Program empowers your team with the knowledge and skills to stay safe on the road, wherever work takes them.

Workplace Safe Driver Program - Driving

Our program strikes the perfect balance between engaging and educational, making complex road safety concepts simple and relatable. Through a practical, evidence-based approach, we empower your staff to think critically, make safer decisions on the road, and apply what they’ve learned long after the training ends. This interactive program helps occupational drivers reduce the risk of road incidents by strengthening their understanding of safe driving principles, behaviours, and responsibilities, maximising your investment and driving real, long-term outcomes.

At Intelligent Training Solutions, we align road safety with your Work Health and Safety policies. Our program is built to support WorkSafe compliance while promoting a safety-first culture, reducing incident rates and helping improve your organisation’s insurance outcomes.

In 2022, 141 (72% of the annual total) workers died in Australia in crashes involving at least one vehicle, an increase of 4% over 2021*

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF YOUR WORKPLACE WHEN IT COMES TO SAFE DRIVING AT WORK?

In Australia, employers have a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the health and safety of their workers, including when they are driving for work purposes.

Under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act, driving for work is considered a workplace activity. This means that businesses must:

  • Manage driving-related risks as part of their overall WHS obligations.

  • Provide a safe working environment, including vehicles that are well-maintained and roadworthy.

  • Ensure employees are competent and fit to drive, and provide appropriate training where needed.

  • Develop and enforce safe driving policies, including guidelines on fatigue, mobile phone use, and speeding.

  • Monitor and review driving practices, incident reports, and near misses as part of continuous safety improvement.

These obligations apply whether employees are using company vehicles or their own vehicles for work purposes (a concept known as “grey fleet” management).

Failure to manage these risks could result in serious legal, financial, and reputational consequences for the organisation.

HOW CAN THE WORKPLACE SAFE DRIVER PROGRAM DIRECTLY BENEFIT YOUR BUSINESS?

Implementing Intelligent Training Solutions’ Workplace Safe Driver Program offers tangible benefits for businesses across Australia, regardless of size or industry. This program goes beyond compliance, it actively supports your organisation’s safety, performance, and bottom line.

Key business benefits include:

  • Reduced Incident Rates: Fewer road-related injuries and vehicle collisions lower the risk of workers’ compensation claims and vehicle repair costs. In 2022, 141 (72% of the annual total) workers died in Australia in crashes involving at least one vehicle, an increase of 4% over 2021*
  • Improved WHS Compliance: Aligns with your legal obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act and supports a strong safety management system.
  • Increased Driver Confidence & Competency: Interactive, practical training improves your team’s awareness, decision-making, and driving behaviours.
  • Lower Insurance Premiums & Claims: A proactive safety culture can help reduce insurance claims and improve your organisation’s risk profile with insurers.
  • Better Protection of Company Assets: Minimising vehicle damage and downtime helps maintain productivity and asset value.
  • Enhanced Safety Culture: Demonstrates a clear commitment to employee wellbeing and encourages shared responsibility for on-road safety.

HOW DOES THIS COURSE DIFFER FROM OTHER DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAMS?

Unlike generic or online driver safety programs, Intelligent Training Solutions’ Workplace Safe Driver Program is specifically designed for Australian workplaces, with each course tailored to meet your workplace’s Health and Safety obligations under Australian law.

What sets our program apart:

➡️ Workplace-Focused: Our training is built around the unique needs of businesses whose employees drive as part of their job, not just general motorists.
➡️ Health and Safety Aligned: We integrate road safety into your existing health and safety framework, helping your organisation meet its legal duties under the Health and Safety Act.
➡️ Customisable Delivery: Training is tailored to your team, your vehicles, and your industry. We can deliver on-site, or in a blended format.
➡️ Engaging & Practical: We use real-world scenarios, interactive learning, and road craft principles to drive behavioural change, not just tick a compliance box.
➡️ Built for Impact: Backed by over 25 years of experience, our training delivers measurable outcomes in driver behaviour, risk reduction, and overall safety culture.

This course is not a standard defensive driving or road rules refresher, it’s a workplace safety initiative that helps businesses protect people, meet legal obligations, and reduce operational risks.
