This course will certify you as a ‘competent person’ to establish the essential safety measures and outline a level of maintenance in accordance with the Australian Standards AS/NZS 2293.1, the Essentials Safety Measures Building Code of Australia (BCA) and the National Construction Code (NCC). This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to inspect and test the functional operation of emergency and exit lighting systems installed at clients premises.
This course is suitable for those with basic skills and knowledge undertaking routine work tasks either under the direction of more experienced workers or as a sole operator. Some of the topics covered in this course include:

Participants wishing to continue with study after achieving the CPPFES2026 certification can do so by undertaking the Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing Course.
Participants who successfully complete this course will be able to inspect and test the functional operation of emergency and exit lighting systems installed at their own workplace or at a client premises. This unit does not cover any installation, replacement (unless plug and play), maintenance or repair functions that are restricted to licensed trades or occupations.
This course is delivered as a blended delivery course meaning that this course contains both an online personal study component, to be completed in your own time outside of class, and a one-day practical face to face session.
Our blended delivery course ensures all who attend are provided with extensive practice inspecting and testing emergency lighting systems and emergency lighting and exit sign components as required by the Australian Standards. Courses are available on a weekly basis and are flexible with dates and times to cater to your individual or organisational needs.

HOW TO ENROL IN THIS COURSE
If you would like to enrol in this course you must complete the ITS online enrolment form. To enrol, simply search through the table below. All our public courses for the 2021 year are listed in the table below in month order. Once you have located the month and location that suits you, simply click the ‘Enrol Now’ button that corresponds with the course you wish to enrol in.
If you are unable to complete our enrolment form online, you can request a PDF enrolment form to be sent to your email address by contacting our office, alternatively, you can also visit us at our training centre or call us and speak with our administration staff during business hours. One of our friendly staff will be happy to walk you through the online enrolment process.
OUR ENROLMENT PROCESS
The first stage of the enrolment process is automated. Once you complete and submit your online enrolment form, our website will send you a welcome email together with an email that provides you with access to your personal study component via our Learner Portal.
PLEASE NOTE: It is important to note that the two emails you will receive listed above do not confirm or guarantee your position on this course. Your position in this course and access to the face to face component of your training will only be confirmed once payment has been received in full.
The next step in the enrolment process involves our enrolment team reviewing the information on your enrolment form. On the off chance that our enrolment team find an abnormality with your enrolment form, they will contact you by phone to discuss and rectify any issues. During this stage, you will receive a confirmation text message (SMS) from our office informing you that we have received and are processing your enrolment form.
PLEASE NOTE: This text message may take between 1 to 12 hours to be sent to your phone as this text message is only sent to you when one of our team members have your enrolment form in their hands or on their computer screens.
In the third stage of this process, you may receive an email or two from our enrolment team. These emails may include:

COURSE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
This accredited course does not have any required eligibility criteria as stated by the CPPFES2026 course criteria or the CPP Training Package. It is recommended that course participants have basic Language, Literacy, and Numeracy skills and have the physical ability to perform the job function and duties of a service technician. Participants must be 16 years or older.
No licensing requirements exist for this accredited course
To successfully complete this course, you will be assessed on the criteria of the CPPFES2026 unit of competency. A successful outcome for this certification will be determined by a range of different methods including an online or written submission of work, observation of simulated and practical activities, structured questioning or discussions.

It is a requirement of this course as stated by the CPPFES2026 criteria that the practical assessment (demonstration and performance components) must be demonstrated and performed by course participants wishing to obtain a Statement of Attainment (certification) for this course.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Recognition of prior learning for this course will be offered by way of an assessment only pathway. Applicants will need to undertake both the theory and practical assessment tasks in order to be deemed competent in this course. RESOURCES AND TEXTBOOKS
Intelligent Training Solutions will provide you with all the required resources, textbooks, and industry codes via your Learner Portal. It is strongly recommended that you purchase a copy of the AS-NZS 2293.1-2018, AS-NZS 2293.2-2019, AS-NZS 2293.3-2018 standards after completing this course. You will not require these documents for your course as copies of these standards will be available to you for review on the day of your course, however, it is recommended that after successful completion of your course, you obtain a copy of these standards for your own records. Australian Standards can be purchased from SAI Global and are licensed to the purchaser.
STUDENT REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
It is recommended that you take the following equipment or resources along with you when undertaking this course:
- Working pens and highlighters for use on the course.
- A4 lined workbooks for taking notes (minimum 150 pages)
- An active and working email account
- Photo ID to confirm your identity
- Safety work boots (required on the practical session)
UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) within 30 days of your final successful assessment.
PLEASE NOTE: As a general practice, Intelligent Training Solutions works towards issuing Statements of Attainment (SOA) within 14 days from the successful completion of your course, however, please note that failing to provide our office with your correct USI details, failure to pay your invoice on time, or failing to complete all course work will delay your SOA.
If you require your certificate urgently, please inform your assessor on the day of your training so that they can attempt to make the required arrangements for you.
